Various activities to choose from during your day or days in Reykjavik.

During your day or days in Reykjavik you can browse the city and go shopping and relax at some coffee houses. You also can have a combination of activities. The below sections is listing many activities for you to choose from.

Click here for full information page on Northern lights

From late August until late April the Northern Lights can be seen in Iceland.  The NL are a natural phenomenon and it’s impossible to plan days or weeks in advance to do a tour on a certain day.

The NL appear in the evenings so during the day you have tours and activities and then in the afternoon see the NL if the conditions are right.

The NL can be anywhere from none to very strong. The weather and especially cloud coverage can affect if the NL can be seen or not. If it’s fully cloudy and you can not see the stars or the moon then you can not see the NL.

We use various tools to monitor the weather, cloud coverage and the intensity of the NL. If needed we schedule for a tour either for the next day or even make a decision on the same day to do a tour. If it’s cloudy we head for an area where there potentially will be less clouds and hope to see the NL.

  • If there is no cloud coverage then there is no need to do a tour – simply go outside and enjoy.
  • If the NL are predicted to be weak or medium strong and there are partially cloudy skies it can be advisable to do a tour to get away from the city lights and head for an area where there are less clouds.
